Before she committed suicide, Kailia Posey, star of “Toddlers and Tiaras“, left behind a note and gift for her mother.
Marcy Gatterman, Posey’s mother, spoke out about her 16-year old son’s final days in an interview with E! News.
Gatterman stated that it was fine for her in the days and weeks before this. I didn’t look at her phone. She went to prom with a group of friends. Everything went well the next day.
Posey, however, took a family vehicle on May 1 after her mother went to the store. She never came back.
Before she committed suicide, Kailia Posey left behind an address for her mother and other friends.
Her body was discovered on May 2, and her cause and manner were confirmed Wednesday by the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office in an online release.
According to authorities, the 16-year-old pageant star died from “asphyxia caused by ligature hanging and in the manner of suicide”.
Gatterman said that she left me a note and for her best friend. “The note stated that she loved me, that she was sorry, and that her big sister is her best friend forever.”
Posey ordered a gift for her mother before she died. It arrived two weeks after her 16-year old suicide attempt.
Posey also ordered a blanket to her mother. It arrived two weeks after she died. The pageant queen discovered the blanket on TikTok. It was meant to be a hug.
“Dear Mom. Even if I’m far away, I want to let you know that I love you and appreciate you. Always. This blanket is a hug. According to Posey’s mom, a note was attached to the blanket that said “I love you”.
Gatterman stressed that parents should check in on their children and encouraged them to talk to their parents.
She said, “Parents with teenagers, check your phones.” Talk to your parents if you are having trouble. They won’t judge you. They will get you the help you require, but they need to understand what you are looking for in order to help you.
