Here Is the “Sing 2” Cast with Their Characters Side by Side ‘Star-studded follow-up’
Today is Sing 2’s official UK release date, and I can’t wait to see it in the theatre! Following Buster Moon and his group of diverse singers as they attempt to succeed in Redshore City—the global center of entertainment—the film begins off where the first one left off.
You might recognize some of the voices in the film because it is packed with well-known actors and musicians.
Matthew McConaughey in the role of Buster Moon
From romantic comedies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to space operas like Interstellar, Matthew has acted in them all. He provides the voice of ambitious theatre proprietor Buster Moon in the films Sing and its follow-up.
Rosita, played by Reese Witherspoon
You’ve probably heard of the actress, producer, and businesswoman Reese Witherspoon! She plays the role of Rosita, a singer and loving mother to 25 piglets. Recent projects by Reese include The Morning Show on Apple TV+, the miniseries Little Fires Everywhere, and the HBO drama Big Little Lies.
Scarlett Johansson portrays Ash
Ash is a young porcupine who aspires to be a rock star, and Scarlett plays him. Last month, Scarlett concluded her ten-year run as the lead character in Marvel’s Black Widow.
Along with her acting profession, she also has a music career. She has released two albums: Anywhere I Lay My Head and the joint album Break Up with Pete Yorn.
Nick Kroll as Gunter, number
Nick performs the energetic and flamboyant dancing pig Gunter in the Sing movies. With appearances in Sausage Party, The Secret Life of Pets 2, and The Addams Family among his many other voice acting accomplishments, Nick is best known for originating and starring in Big Mouth.
Tori Kelly as Meena
With two Grammy awards under her belt, Tori is a multi-talented actor, singer, and songwriter. She plays the timid singer Meena, who towards the film’s conclusion eventually developed the courage to take the stage.
Garth Jennings as Miss Crawly
Sing and Sing 2 are both written and directed by Garth, who also provides Miss Crawly, Buster Moon’s well-intentioned helper, with a voice. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Son of Rambow are two of Garth’s prior works as a director. He also voiced characters in Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Secret Life of Pets 2.
Taron Egerton as Johnny In the movie Sing
Taron plays Johnny, a gorilla caught between his passion of music and his allegiance to his macho-wacho father. The actor gained notoriety thanks to his breakthrough performance in Kingsman: The Secret Service as Eggsy. In the Elton John movie Rocketman, in which he played the British musician, he last displayed his singing talent.
Nana Noodleman is played by Jennifer Saunders.
Although Jennifer has a lengthy film and television career, many people recognize her best as Edina Monsoon from Absolutely Fabulous. She appeared in Jam & Jerusalem, Blandings, and Friends, and provided the voice of the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2.
Jennifer plays the stiff retired singer Nana Noodleman again. Nana Noodleman was the patron of the Moon Theatre at the conclusion of Sing.
Norman, played by Nick Offerman
Norman, Rosita’s clueless husband, is a minor character voiced by Nick Offerman. Nick is most recognized for his role as Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation, but he has also done a variety of voice work, appearing in Gravity Falls, The Lego Movie, and Hotel Transylvania 2.
Fun fact: He works as a professional woodworker on the side.
Peter Serafinowicz as the title role
As the star of The Tick and Pete in Shaun of the Dead and the Darth Maul voice in Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, you might recognise Peter. He plays Marcus, Johnny’s father, who was incarcerated due to an attempted theft but escaped to watch his son sing at the conclusion of the first movie, in Sing and its sequel.
Bono as Clay Calloway
You’ve heard of Bono, right? The lead singer of U2 is one of several notable figures to join the cast of Sing 2. He does the voice of Clay Calloway, a retired rock musician who Buster and his coworkers try to persuade to join their programme.
Jimmy Crystal as Jimmy Cannavale
The main antagonist of Sing 2 is Jimmy Crystal, a cynical wolf that prioritises profit over all else. Bobby Cannavale, an actor who has been in hundreds of films including Will & Grace, Master of None, Mr. Robot, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, lends his voice to the character.
Halsey portrays Porsha Crystal
The spoiled daughter of Jimmy Crystal, who is vying for a role in Buster’s new show. Halsey is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter.
Letitia Wright portraying Nooshy
In Sing 2, Letitia Wright portrays the street-dancing Canada lynx Nooshy. In the next sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Letitia will reprise her role as Shuri, who is well-known for her performance in the film Black Panther. She has also appeared in the television shows Cucumber, Small Axe, and Black Mirror.
Chelsea Peretti portraying Suki Lane
Chelsea is most known for her role as Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but she has also appeared on programs liprogramsParty, Kroll Show, and Big Mouth, as well as written for shows like Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live during her comedy career.
She portrays Suki Lane, Jimmy Crystal’s secretary, in Sing 2.
Pharrell Williams in the role of Alfonso
You’re probably already familiar with Pharrell’s lengthy career as a rapper, record producer, singer, songwriter, and businessman. In the Sing sequel, the musician portrays Alfonso, an elephant who owns an ice cream truck and develops a friendship with Meena.
Eric André portraying Darius
Darius, a conceited yak who is paired with Meena in a loving duet, is voiced by Eric. Eric has had a varied film and television career, but is arguably best known as the presenter of the comedy series of the same name, The Eric Andre Show, and for the numerous memes that it gave rise to. He also appeared in Man Seeking Woman, Don’t Trust the B—— in Apartment 23, and Apartment 23.
Adam Buxton as the intimidating dancing instructor Klaus Kickenklober (yes, you read that all correctly)
Adam Buxton, an English comedian, actor, podcaster, and writer, plays Klaus Kickenklober.
Adam has created three music videos for Radiohead, often appears on comic panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and has roles in movies including Hot Fuzz, The IT Crowd, and Stardust.
