Reps. Omar, Adams among 16 members of Congress arrested during abortion protest near Supreme Court

Many lawmakers from Congress including Reps. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota.

Adams The team that she was with confirmed that she was arrested in the use of tweets posted from the official Twitter account. The office of her boss has confirmed the arrest by WCCO. In an account on Instagram, Omar remained defiant.

“Today I was detained when participating in the civil peaceful protest together with my colleagues from Congress before the Supreme Court. I will do everything to draw attention to the infringement of our right to reproduce! ” she wrote.


Capitol Police warned protesters that they’d take action.

“It is unlawful to stop traffic, so officers will issue our standard three warnings before they arrest,” Capitol Police tweeted.


A few minutes later, they declared they had declared the fact that “[s]ome among the demonstrators are refusing to get off the streets and we’re starting to detain them. 

Capitol Police later tweeted that they had detained 34 people, including 16 representatives of Congress.Video of the incident illustrates Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y. and being taken away by police with her arms were held before her despite the fact no handcuffs were visible.

“Today we marched on the streets of SCOTUS to protest against the extreme right-wing ruling of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe,” she tweeted. “It’s time to enter some serious troubles. We’re not coming back.
