Good Girl Perfume, formerly known as Sweet Sinful Girl Perfume, has taken the world by storm this year. Something that I haven’t been able to figure out, however, is why Gwen Stefani’s perfume has become so popular. It could be that with its pink packaging it stands out in Sephora stores. Or perhaps it’s because of Stefani herself; she has legions of fans (and their moms and sisters) who follow her every move and listen to her music. However, despite everyone liking a sweet watermelon-flavored perfume in theory, when you really stop and think about it well good girl perfume doesn’t quite make sense for adult women.

I am very excited about all of this new exploration, and I am so happy that people feel free to be who they want to be. I think it’s awesome that we are starting to see a lot more fluidity when it comes to labels and gender norms.
- Why do you think your perfume appeals more to women than men?
I have always said that I wanted my brand to represent an idea of femininity, strength, and power, which really resonates with women more than men because historically these qualities have been associated with being a woman.
Q&A with the Founder and CEO
Good Girl Perfume is taking the world by storm. What started out as a side project has turned into a full-fledged business for the founder, Rachelle Nevsky. It all started when she wanted to bring more feminine scents into her life and noticed that there were not a lot of options. After posting about it on Instagram and getting such an incredible response, she decided to make it into a real thing!
We had the opportunity to chat with Rachelle about how she got started, what makes Good Girl Perfume so special, and what’s next for her company!
When did you first realize that you had a passion for entrepreneurship? Rachelle: I never really thought I would have a passion for it because I thought it was something only some people were good at and others weren’t. In college, I took two business classes and loved them both.
Even then, I didn’t think that meant that I should start a business. But when my friend and co-founder (Sarah) came to me with an idea for Good Girl, we decided to try it out! Our relationship started as classmates in high school but grew into much more through college. We got super close there and it made sense for us to team up on Good Girl! Now we couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
